A July 2005 trip

Hotel | "Embassy Suites La Jolla"
This place was very nice. The price was about $200 per night, which included a daily paper, breakfast, and a free happy hour around 5(ish). It is located right across the street to the Westfield UTC Mall. We could park our car at the hotel and just walk to go shopping or grab something to eat. Right in front of the hotel is a Chinese restaurant. Around the mall there is also many other types of restaurants to choose from and walk to. It's only about a two minute drive from highway 5, which takes to practically anywhere from Los Angeles to Tijuana.
The inside of the hotel was very nice. Most Embassy Suites are designed the same. The interior of the hotel is empty all the way up to the top floor. So when you walk out of your room, you will walk up to the edge and can peer over down on to the lobby area. It is filled with different plants and a stream runs down the middle that have those very large looking goldfish, which you can feed for a quarter. The kids were getting a kick out of it. The bar was nice, it sat in a room off the lobby. In the corner is a gift shop that sells a bunch of San Diego merchandise like postcards, shot glasses, t-shirts, etc. There is also a fitness center, steam room, and pool that is inside. It was kind of a bummer, I was hoping that the pool would be outside, but I didn't read my research carefully. The hot tub was outside. I am not sure if we were supposed to take our drinks from the bar out there, but no one was every out there. It was our own little spot.
Our room was huge. When you walked in there was a sofa and chair and kitchen table with a TV. Walking down the hall was a very large closet, microwave, and mini fridge. On the other side was the bathroom. Our bedroom had a king size bed, TV, nightstands, drawers, and a chair. The room was very comfortable and very clean. We also got wireless Internet to the room, which was nice because my boyfriend had brought his laptop so we could look at what to do for the next day and where to find it. The best part of our stay here was the breakfast. Amazing! You could pick from a cereal bar that was 50 feet long or a fruit bar that was the same length. Or go up and order eggs (cooked however you want them), sausage, pancakes, toast, waffles, anything! They cooked it right there and it was complementary. The thing I liked least was having to pay every night to park at the hotel in their garage. If we were lucky we could find a place along the backside that was free, but if you get back late, you have no chance. Otherwise, our stay was excellent!

Attraction | "SeaWorld"
SeaWorld is my favorite place in the entire world. I was so excited to visit this particular SeaWorld because it is the original one. The first thing we did at SeaWorld was participate in the DIP program, which is dolphin interaction. We got to put on wet suits and get into the water with the bottlenose dolphins. The experience is amazing and I have never felt so excited in my entire life. I would do this activity over and over again.
There is plenty to do and see at SeaWorld. You can learn about all types of animals like killer whales, dolphins, seals, sea lions, manatees, sharks, penguins, and so much more. When we went it was the 4th of July week and every night they had a special show with Shamu that ended with fireworks.
The best way to prepare for a trip to SeaWorld is to decide how many days you want to visit. Being as crazy as I am, we went 3 out of the 7 days that we were in San Diego, so it made the most sense to buy a season pass. The season pass only cost about $50 more than regular admission and we got to come back everyday for free and we also got a discount booklet for food and gifts, which totally saved me hundreds of dollars!! I recommend this to everyone! Everybody of all ages will enjoy this. It's really an experience you must enjoy for yourself.
