Treasure Island (now TI) has changed a lot since MGM bought it. The carved pirates that overlooked the walkway to the tram are gone and the arcade that had animated pirates too (guess they figure BIG kids don't count... I personally liked it better than the bar they replaced it with).

The British also are gone to be replaced with scanty clad women. In the battle out front. (I used to love watching that captain go down with his ship.) We used to go here every year, and tried it again recently for a quick overnight. But it seems to have lost its "Theme" and just doesn't feel the same. The casino always seems "smoky" now, and just not as friendly as it once was.

We were disappointed, good thing it was only one night!

The Las Vegas Hilton, though not on the Strip, is a refreshing place to stay. It is an older hotel without all the "flash" of the others, but at a better price and the regular rooms are really large. The cafe is a great place for breakfast and we love quarks for dinner. The Star Trek Experience is a must see (hubby spends all day here).

But it does have easy access with the monorail to get to the strip (right by the Star Trek) and a huge statue of Elvis in the lobby. Not much in the way of gaming play though, minimal amount of slots too.

Something for men to check out... the men's room by Star Trek... hubby says it has a scanner (fake of course), that analyzes the "output".

As a change of pace we booked a weekend through an online site (hotels.com), and it gave us this hotel for a very reasonable price. Well, you get what you pay for. The hotel itself is quite a distance from the main strip (even far from downtown too), below average rooms seriously need updating (gee, they could have changed the caulk in the bathroom—it was a mess), and some sound proofing would have been nice (we could hear every person who went by the door and, needless to say, the other rooms as well.)

It does have a nice mini-mall on the second level, and a fairly good sized casino. But the cost of taxis to get anywhere outweighs any nice feature.

Plus you DON'T want to walk ANYwhere from this hotel at night...very bad neighborhood, as we were told numerous times by the staff and cab drivers.

Thumbs down to this hotel.

Harrah's is centrally located at mid Strip and is on the monorail line. My mother and I stayed here for two nights to go to the CMA. She had requested a low floor, non-smoking room, and was assured we could have an early check in.
We arrived at 11am to find the room was not ready, they delayed and put us off until 4pm, then on arriving at the room we found it was dirty still... the tub was dirty, soda caps on floor and our "non smoking" room had cigarette butts on the window sill. (Calls to the front desk didn't help.)

Needless to say their customer service needs a lot of improvement. But she did love the Toby Keith restaurant and it is easy access to the monorail. The room rate was reasonable but I wouldn't stay here again.

MGM is centrally located, easy access to the Strip and the monorail (main station). I have stayed here a few times, the rooms are OK, and service is good but not terrific. The Lion habitat is a cool way to spend some time. More than fair amount of games and slots with a lot of variety. A lot of walking though. They have a food court for quick meals or snacks and excellent showrooms for concerts. And some neat shops to browse.

The rooms are always clean and comfortable and the front desk can fix most problems. We liked it here but not a major WOW.

This is a very interesting tour with excellent views of the Strip at night. I personally am afraid of heights but this was OK. Beautiful and romantic. My husband loved it!
