My family and I drove up to Cooperstown for the weekend to go to the Baseball Hall of Fame and discovered many other attractions while we were there.

Best Western Inn & Suites At The CommonsBest of IgoUgo

Hotel | "Best Western at the Commons"

My family and I came across this Best Western online searching for good room rates, this particular motel came to about $90 a night. The rooms were clean and spacious offering basic amenities such as television and ironing board plus a microwave and fridge, which are nice extras. The motel was located a few minutes away from the village of Cooperstown and adjacent to a great steak house. The front desk was helpful with directions and gave us useful info about nearby attractions. Plus as a guest, the motel gives you great discounts on the Hall of Fame and nearby restaurants. (We showed our room key at TJ's and got 10% off our entire meal!)

Inside
My family and I went here for breakfast and enjoyed the diner like food and low prices. The waiters were friendly and were very informative about nearby attractions. The menu features breakfast, lunch and dinner. There was also a cute gift shop located inside selling Cooperstown souvenirs. TJ's was conveniently located on Main Street and just a walk away from the Baseball Hall of Fame.

This steak house specializes in steaks, prime rib and offers pasta and seafood as well. The food was tasty and came right away. Located conviently right next to the Best Western.

Museum
This museum is great for any baseball lover, no matter how old you are. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for kids. Admission lasts for the whole day so you can take your time and go back after a lunch break (don't' miss the online discounts that also feature the Farmers Museum and the Fenimore Art Museum for one low price!). It's a great place for families to visit, I've been coming here since I was a little kid and love coming back every time. It's fun to see your old and new favorite players honored in the museum. My favorite is the section devoted to Babe Ruth, which chronicles his whole life. I also love the newly renovated "Women in Baseball" section, which feature the real women portrayed in the film A League of Their Own. There is also a great gift shop located on the first floor that sells anything from baseball hats to jerseys that are sure to feature your favorite team.

Located just three miles from Cooperstown, this 1856 water powered cider mill offers free tours, a gift shop, and samples of various food products made with apples. There is also a bakery on site that serves fresh hot apple cider and apple pies. I really enjoyed coming to this authentic cider mill, which I found out from staying at the Best Western. It was really cool seeing how the apples were pressed and made into cider, plus I recommend this place to anyone who wants a unique experience for free.
This railroad offers historic train rides along the Susquehanna river. We went at night during the Halloween train rides, which wasn't really worth it but we still enjoyed riding on this old restored train.
