Had a wonderful time at the Sands! Here is my review of the Sands and our trip review...We booked an "Oceanview Studio" Category package thru www.Travelocity.com We arrived to the Sands, which is about a 15-minute drive from the airport. We were assigned to room 1305, studio oceanview. Desk clerks were cordial, but not overly friendly. I had asked about upgrades, and the desk clerk whipped out the rack rate chart and calculator. I had read that others received complementary upgrades, so I thought I would ask. We decided not to pay the rack rate difference, and just keep the assigned room. The bellman helped us with our luggage- what a ni...Read More

Looking to make your trip to the Turks & Caicos extra special? Then you have to try the Coco Bistro Restaurant for dinner! Located on Grace Bay Road, just a short taxi ride from the Sands Hotel, is one of the best restaurant experiences you can have on the island. Dine under a lining of lighted palm trees. The scenery and setting are breathtaking! This restaurant was built on a plot of land that was a former palm grove nusery in the 80s. The ambience is wonderful because it is quiet, romantic, and a the food is fabulous! The menu consists of fine cuisine made with a French flaire, such as grouper, snapper, lobster, and  penne pasta. We had the lobster tail and it was outstan...Read More

Beachfront at the Sands Hotel, located on Grace Bay Beach, is Hemingway's Restaurant. If you are staying at the Sands, or one of the nearby hotels, the location is convenient and very easy to get to.Hemingway's is a bar/restaurant located right on the beach with excellent views. At night, the palm trees are lighted for that extra special setting. The menu featured a variety of items, including pasta, seafood, and steak. They start serving dinner at 5pm, and reservations are recommended, however not always necessary. Breakfast and lunch are also served, and the restaurant tends to be less crowded during the day.Service is marginal—sort of "hit-or-miss". The first night we were th...Read More

I'm afraid. Why, you may ask? Well, I'm afraid to tell the world about the most amazing beach ever- Grace Bay Beach in the Turks & Caicos. However, I can't contain my excitement, and my only hope is that as tourism continues to grow on this once "never-heard-of" island, that the beach will stay just as spectacular for years to come! So, you may be wondering... "Where the heck is the Turks & Caicos"?Just a short 75 minute flight southeast of Miami, Florida, located in Providenciales, on the island of the Turks & Caicos, is Grace Bay Beach. If you are looking for a beautiful beach vacation, then this is the island for you! It is a 12-mile stretch of one of the most b...Read More

Potcake on the Beach Photo - Turks & Caicos Islands, Caribbean
Quote:
What is a Potcake? Potcake is the name given to homeless dogs living in the Turks & Caicos Islands. Throughout the island, you can see many of these local residents that are in desperate need of a home and someone to love them. While researching for my trip to the Turks & Caicos last November, I came across an organization called Potcake Place (www.potcakeplace.com). This nonprofit organization rescues the homeless dogs on the island, and helps to get them adopted, when these animals otherwise may have not had a chance of surviving on their own. Many tourists go to the islands for a relaxing vacation, and end up finding so much more—a family member and lifetime friend. Wh...Read More
