Halse Lodge

Hotel

Halse Lodge

This hostel was perfectly located 100m from the beach. The building is listed by the National Trust, and is surrounded by lovely green foliage and banana trees. You can also see wild turkeys eating from the banana trees and geckos scurrying around the wooden panels of the building! It is a very clean hostel, although the double room we stayed in was very small and contained no furniture (we nicknamed it "the cell"). The girl on reception was efficient but her friendliness seemed forced. The biggest perks of the hostel were the free use of boogie boards ($100 deposit) to use on the beach, and their free storage, which we used when we did a 3-day tour of Fraser Island. The attached bar is quite cheap, but closed at 11pm on the night we stayed. The kitchen was clean-ish and ample enough for the few times we used it.
