Curacao is probably the most important free shop in all the Caribbean. Its capital, Willemstad, is an important city, that in other times depended largely on the Shell Oil Refinery, that closed down, and later was bought by Petroleos de Venezuela. Now its most important source is tourism. And it is a huge duty-free shopping center. You can buy practically anything, at very convenient prices. The colorful constructions that border the channel that divides the island in two is really impressive. And Curacao is an island where black and white people seem to get on very nicely.
