Halloween To-Do List

Frightworld has 5 separately themed haunted houses: Castle of Fear, House of the Dead, Reaper's Revenge, CarnEvil in 3-D, and Dr. Nightmare's Asylum. Each individual house is highly detailed and the actors can really get into character. Expect to spent at least an hour (several hours when it's busy!) to visit all five houses. If you can, take your time to notice the thought and detail they put into this place. The skeleton holding the newspaper actually has a Halloween issue from years ago! How's that for detail?! It's a great place to spend a bit of money. But if you think about it, $17 for 5 houses is really less than $4 per house; where else could you get a scare so cheap? Dark Raven Manor is a large walk-through haunted attraction, in fact it's two separate attractions. Usually one of the houses run a complete story-line through the whole house, such as JigSaw from the movie Saw. It's another greatly detailed attraction, though you do need to watch the floor as it does change levels unexpectedly. There are also some terrific, complex props that will blow you away. Whenever I've gone there, the line wasn't too long as it does move quickly by letting in larger groups go together. Part of the fun of this place is being able to see your friends' reactions to some of the 'scares'.

Good attraction for the south towns of WNY. SatF has two houses and the hayride for spending a nice evening out. The hayride is outdoors so you may want to check the weather before you go. The houses at SatF aren't as large as the other places for Halloween in WNY, but it is very entertaining for families during that time of the year.
