Orlando Islands of Adventure

Overview

Quote:
Islands of Adventure (IOA) consists of 5 islands and a port and is Orlando's Roller Coaster theme park. There is a little something for everyone. Port of EntryThis is where it all starts and it all ends. There are no rides here, only shops and restaurants. Leaving Port of Entry and going to the right (which is what I recommend you do, too).Seuss LandingSeuss Landing is whimsical. Just like the books there's a lot of colors and no straight lines. The trees were imported from South Florida where hurricane-force winds permanently bent the trees. My favorite ride: Cat in the Hat. My favorite eatery: Green Eggs and Ham....Read More

Story/Tip

Upon entering IOA you are on "Port of Entry." The lighthouse at the entrance is based off of the lighthouse on the mysterious Atlantis. At night on a clear day, they beam can be seen from miles away. The port also boasts the most colors of any of the other Islands at the Park, I believe there are over 250. This area is where you want to shop and get your pictures taken. You will want to save your shopping for the end of the evening so you don't have to carry everything. My favorite store is the very large Trading Company. This store has a little bit of everything from the rest of the Islands, and it's open later than the rest of the park. Save it for last. Other store...Read More

Extreme Close-Up: Seuss Landing

Story/Tip

Quote:
Seuss Landings is a brightly colored island featuring Dr. Seuss and his famous books. The idea behind this whole island is that you have walked into one of his books. The vivid colors and the shape of everything is exactly like the illustrations of his books. There are no straight lines on Seuss Landings. These combinations create a surreal world. The building are slightly tilted and like nothing you would see in real life. The colors are kept bright by the IOA staff frequently painting everything when the park closes. The Rides Cat in the HatIf Seuss Landing brings you inside Seuss' famous books, this ride literally brings you inside his MOST famous book, Cat in t...Read More

Extreme Close-Up: The Lost Continent

Story/Tip

Quote:
ROLLER COASTER!!! When looking at the map, the first thing that pops out on The Lost Continent is THE ROLLER COASTER!! And as exciting and fun as it is, I will have to describe everything else before we get to the roller coaster. You see, when entering the Lost Continent from Seuss Landing, it is one of the last things you get to before you get to Jurassic Park. So, you leave the colorful and whimsical Seuss Landing and enter the beautiful world of the Lost Continent. There's something peaceful about this particular land: t...Read More

Jurassic Park at Islands of Adventure

Attraction | "Extreme Close-Up: Jurassic Park"

Quote:
When you've had your fill of the Dueling Dragons and are ready to leave The Lost Continent it's time to visit the Jurassic Park, where scientists have brought dinosaurs back to life. With some "scientific" overtones and many references to the movie, this island offers a different combination of fun and learning not found elsewhere. (Side Note: I think Steven Spielberg helped create the Island, which aids in its authenticity.)Entering Jurassic Park, you will go under the large gates popular from the film. Then the movie musi...Read More
