Walk around this quaint coastal town and soak up the sights and sounds. Check out the regal and majestic State Mosque, the colonial style courthouse and the old shophouses along Jalan Besar. Visit the exotic Chinese temples in town and the nearby beach resort of Teluk Chempedak. Balok Beach, 15 km to the north, is great for wind surfing.

Quick Tips:

Go to Chendor Beach during July-September and see the green turtles laying their eggs.

Best Way To Get Around:

Kuantan is made for walkers but for nearby beach resorts use taxis-they are relatively inexpensive.
This is a comfortable and cozy beach side resort hotel with good service and very reasonable prices. Whilst not luxurious, it is a good place to stay if you are watching your pennies. The food outlets are quite good and you can also make a trip to Cherating for excellent seafood.

Incredibly tasty and inexpensive food, at most hours of the day until the early morning, can be gotten at the street restaurants in Kuantan. Good dishes to sample include Hainanese Chicken rice, Fried Rice (Nasi Goreng), Roti Canai (Malaysian savoury pancake) and Noodles (Mee).
