Regardless of your age....Branson has activities for you!

There are many misconceptions about Branson: some people think it is for retirees only... other people feel there are no alternate routes to the congested traffic. Let me set the record straight. Branson is fun for the whole family! From the young children, to their parents and grandparents, everyone can find something to do in the Branson area!

Quick Tips:

Leave early for your theater show... you may get caught in Branson traffic. Use alternate routes to get you off Hwy 76.

If you can handle a timeshare presentation, you can normally get free or half price Show tickets. Not all theaters participate in this, so please check first.

If you live in Stone, Taney, Christian, or Greene county in Missouri, check with shows for "locals" discount. Some shows offer a discount all year and some offer this just on certain nights.

A Silver Dollar City Season Pass () is a good deal if you are planning to visit at least twice during the year.

Best Way To Get Around:

The Ozark Mountain Highroad is scenic million dollar super highway that was cut through the mountains. The purpose was to alleviate traffic on busy Hwy 76. Well, the highway is done... but no one is using it. Every time I have been on it there is no traffic! Use this highway if you are heading South on Hwy 65 (from Springfield to Branson) and going to Silver Dollar City. This will save a lot of time and headaches!

Branson also has built a number of side roads over the last 5 years to help with the traffic problem. Stop at any station or tourist center in Branson and pick up a free map. This will show alternate routes as well as all the main attractions. I use Gretna and Shepherd of the Hills Parkway as much as possible.

During the summer months especially, realize that Hwy 76 is going to be bumper to bumper. Consider the earlier mentioned tips and plan with extra time.

Silver Dollar City

Whether you enjoy learning about historic arts and crafts, enjoying live entertainment or thrill seeking on the rides... Silver Dollar City has something for everyone!

Siver Dollar City is set in a 1880s craft village where vendors and shopkeepers are dressed in period costumes. As you stroll through the park you can see a blacksmith shop, glassmakers, basket weavers, woodworkers, and many other craftsmen of yesteryear. All of these people are extremely friendly and will explain what they are doing. Questions are always welcomed by the craftspeople. Be sure to stop by the Candy shop where you can see candy being made...and sample some of the sweets!

Although this is a historic craft village, it is also a world class theme park with rides that are sure to thrill. Do you want to feel like a rocket? Try Powderkeg which will take you from 0-53mph in 2.8 seconds! Wildfire and Thunderation are sure to have you screaming as they twist, loop and wind their way through the Ozark hills.

Silver Dollar City has not forgotten it's youngest customers. Geyser Gulch just may be the most popular area in the park. This is a 3 story fort where kids shoot foam balls out of air cannons at targets. If you are feeling brave, step outside and try the water cannons... but be careful, someone may shoot you! In 2006 Silver Dollar City also added an entire section of the park for families with smaller children.

Entertainment is what really makes Silver Dollar City unique. From various stage and saloon shows to the special Festivals at different times of the year, you will always find the best music and talent from around the world!

A Season Pass ($66) to Silver Dollar City is your best bet if you you plan on going at least twice during the year.

White Water

White Water is the ultimate summer fun for kids in the hot summer months. This water park features a number of different water slides... some extremely high and fast. There is also a "lazy river" for the less adventurous to just relax and catch some rays.

At White Water you and the kids will enjoy the speed of the Raging Rapids. Try the brand new Kalani towers... a 7.5 story water slide with a serious plunge! Of course, you will also find typhoons, speed slides, a wave pool and a special area just for small children. Plan on spending at least half a day at White Water... anything less is just not enough time!
