Allotino (definition: former times), a traditional pension is a charming recently renovated neoclassical building with five rooms and two suites are traditionally decorated with today’s modern conveniences including air-conditioning, digital safe, satellite TV, mini-fridge, free standing closet, shower/W.C. (water closet), and telephone. Each of the five rooms are individually coloured in relaxing shades of green, olive, orange, pink, or red. The two suites are either a peaceful cypress green or vivid cinnamon with a hydro massage.
We were fortunate to be able to get a room here as we walked by on a mid-October weeknight around 22pm where it was very quite when we noticed this bar on the ground floor was lit up and quite lively with customers. This is a popular place to stay and is full all summer and on weekends. The room for €80 with a private shower, no bathtub is spacious and done with style and taste has two balconies, wood floors, another bed was pulled out from underneath the larger bed to accommodate a third person.
A continental breakfast is included with the room is served from 8:30am to 11:30am consists of toast with butter and honey or marmalade, juice, coffee or tea. We opted to pay extra for the American breakfast with eggs and bacon or ham and cheese and there’s an optional yogurt with walnuts and honey. The staff here are quite friendly with a positive attitude though their English is somewhat basic and they do accept credit cards for payment. Check-out is noon.
This place was actually the third one we actually stopped in to check out. We didn't bother to even go inside of another place as the lobby appeared to have low curb appeal with lots of mail slots and florescent lighting that can be seen from the sidewalk. So it's actually true, building an impressive lobby can affect the appeal of a hotel. I was the lone one holding back for something I would like, instead of taking first the first two we checked out. And upon requesting to see the room, I could finally say this is acceptable. A room with space, a room not cramped, a room not too full of "fufu", a room with warmth, with some character, but not overdone, and though brief, a room for a pleasant experience. I find myself requiring this. It's an expense already, let's make it a pleasant one if we can, this place fits the bill.
