Bahamas

A January 2003 trip to Bahamas by mafnet

This is my personal rendition of my family's cruise into the tropical islands of the Caribbean. Mysterious and exotic, the islands are well worth the cost.

The accommodations were, bluntly put, small. But that does nothing to take away from them. TV in every room; hot showers; a warm, soft bed; food service; and a view. Beautiful. Plain beautiful. The rooms were constantly clean. The best part of the room was actually when you left and returned only to find towels shaped like animals! It was amazing!

Have you ever seen those movies where people would be swimming and the fish would be alongside them? Well, that's it! Beautiful fish on the reefs swim close to shore! I was snorkeling and surrounding me like a dome were many minnows, afraid to get too near to me! But even more spectacular was the display of vibrant colors in the fish, ranging from Zebra fish to golden colored fish! If you have the chance, don't waste it! Go! Swim! Snorkel! See the fish!

Attraction | "Brimstone Hill Fortress & Gardens in St Kitts"

What's it like? Have you ever seen the movie Pirates of the Caribbean? You know those old forts they are in? Yep! That's the look! It's up on a large hill, perhaps a half hour drive. But once you get up there, you can see why the inhabitants chose the spot. It is secluded. It's the island's highest point! The fortress has an amazing history to it: A fight for territory... English and French. Never heard of this? No? That's because it isn't very well known that both countries territorized the islands! Once again, it is a beautiful view from the top as one looks down the hill into the crystal blue ocean.

Nature Drive?Best of IgoUgo

Attraction

Have you ever been on a nature hike? Good! Now apply what you know to your rental car! And throw in about nine other people! Well, that was what it was like! Crowded but hilarious! Imagine almost driving into a field of cows. Where did they even come from? Even more astonishing is the sight of the ever-present monkeys! Relatively non-tropical, the island is packed with these two critters.
