A Springtime visit to Seattle afforded good weather, great food, friendly people and a profusion of flowers.

Overview

Tulips
Catch a flying fish at Pike Pace Fish in Seattle's Public Market. If you are there on a Sunday, hit the flea market in funky Freemont and if you are there in the spring, drive through the Skagit Valley (about an hour north of Seattle on Interstate Hwy 5) to see the tulip fields aginst the backdrop of mountains - an awesome sight.

Quick Tips:

Seattle is a wonderful spot for those who enjoy good food and drink. We did not have a bad meal during our entire stay, but the Mussells Pigalle at the Place Pigalle in the Market are not to be missed. The Bloody Mary at Maximilien's French Cafe(also in the Market) is among the very best I've tasted and the Classic Martini at Oliver's in the Mayflower Park Hotel on 4th and Olive Way is an award winner.

Best Way To Get Around:

Seattle is a great walking town and offers free bus transportation in the center of the city until 7 p.m. We rented a car - it came in handy for side trips - but it remained parked most of the time.

We had a queen deluxe - room was spacious, bath was small. Conveniently located for shopping and downtown attractions. Service was good, but not outstanding.

Claremont HotelBest of IgoUgo

Hotel | "The Claremont Hotel"

Nice old hotel lobby with fireplace. Junior suite was fairly spacious. Staff was excellent - friendly, accomodating, informative. They offer a winter bed and breakfast package through the end of April with full breakfast delivered to your room - it was a good deal for classic hotel in downtown Seattle.

Place PigalleBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

Place Pigalle is a small bistro tucked away behind Pike Place Fish in Seattle's Public Market with a nice view of Elliot Bay and the Olympic Mountains. It is a charming spot featuring regional cuisine with a continental influence and a good selection of wines and regional brews. The menu varies with the season, I was told, but one regularly featured item - Mussells Pigalle - is not to be missed. They also make a fine Creme Brulee.

Maximilien In The MarketBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Maximilien French Cafe"

Sunday Brunch at Maximilien was a treat. Reservations were not required, but would be a good idea in the evening or with a large party anytime. Great view of Elliot Bay. Wonderful ambiance. Best Bloody Mary I've tasted (and I've tasted quite a few).
