The rooms in this high-rise resort were spacious with a small kitchenette. Each room has a balcony overlooking the sea. There are two pools and three hot-tubs, an outside cabana bar by the pool is open during the day. There is no restaurant. I enjoyed my stay here.

Restaurant

I enjoyed the food at this 50's style diner as well as the low prices. It was a change of scenery from the regular seafood or TexMex restaurants that dot the island.

South Padre Island was made for beach holidays. At spring break, the beach is teeming with teenagers. The beaches are clean but have a lot of seaweed. Plenty of dunes for the buggy driver.

Attraction

I did not venture into this sport but if I were younger, I would not hesitate. I saw a few skydivers land and it seemed they were having a ball.

Story/Tip

If you are looking for a beach holiday, watersports and offshore fishing, South Padre Island is an excellent destination.

Many offshore and bay fishing trips are available. Don't forget the dramamine as the offshore boats go out about forty miles and it can get a little bumpy. Catches of the day are snapper, shark, tuna and kingfish.

The long sandy beaches are very inviting and waterskiing and jet skiing are available. There are many resorts on this island to choose from which can be a little costly but there are also a few motels and regular hotels if you want a cheaper route.

This island is perfect for sun lovers and fishermen. I recommend a spring holiday here but make sure you don't go at springbreak. The island is crowded with partying teenagers.
