Our trip to Kauai was a very quick 4 days, but we'll never forget it.

Snorkel at the Tunnels Beach, in the tunnels - you won't believe how beautiful it can be. Waimea Canyon - breathtaking! No matter the weather, go for at least 1 hike. We took the Keke'e trail (4 miles), but saw 2 beautiful waterfalls - that were so worth the hike. Do not give up until you reach the end or you'll never see them. Poipu beach is the best surfing beach on the island. We saw 2 Monk seals, one was a baby. Go to the Hidden Beach in Haena - so peaceful, perfect for honeymooners. All of the beaches were beautiful though our favorite was a small beach right off of the road that we just happend to fall upon - pure heaven.

Quick Tips:

If you are going to rent a car, I recommend a convertible - the scenery is too beautiful to be missed while traveling in an enclosed car. Bring a light jacket/or sweater, Kauai is known for it's rainy weather. Drink as much water as possible, you will dehydrate if you don't. When swimming, be very careful to always read the signs, the waters can be very dangerous.

Best Way To Get Around:

By car is the only way to go if you plan on sightseeing all over the island, preferably in a convertible.

Hale Tutu

Hale Tutu

This was a GREAT B&B!! The hosts, Linda, her Mom - Tutu, and Steve were the best hosts you could ever ask for. Our rooms were so spacious and luxurious for a mere $105 per night - and that was the expensive room. We had a tub/hot tub in our bathroom (the bathroom was almost the size of the bedroom - huge) plus the hot tub and pool outside. While staying at Hale Tutu''s, we felt more like friends visiting then guests. They were quick to ask how your day/adventures were but never invading on your space. We had our own exit/entrance so as not to disturb anyone. The breakfasts were out of this world, Steve - who used to be a chef - was outstanding behind the stove. The B&B was located more towards the mountains, which is a little cooler at night, but still sleep with your sliding screen door open. You''ll never want to wake up anywhere else again.

Honaleai Gourmet

This place was a great place to have a relaxing lunch. The bartenders are friendly, music is playing off of the stereo and the food is delicious. You can have burgers, chicken and even fish - tasty yet not too expensive. Enjoy a nice cold beer while you are eating lunch and enjoy the crowd. Bar bill won't be more than $40 with drinks included. We were told that this bar was the only hot spot around - so anyone looking for nightlife, swing by this bar. Otherwise, like we did - drive the 1/2 back to the place your staying at and have a few cold ones there out on the Lenai.

Bubba Burger

These burgers are great..,messy, but great. Make sure that you know exatly what is on that burger though. At Bubba's, they put a special sauce on there plus onions - so be prepared!! They have Bubba parafanalia - so buy it, it's fun.

Snorkeling for my first time...

This snorkeling was out of this world!! It was my first time ever so I was a little nervous and hoping that I wouldn't choke under water. I got into the water, put the mask and breathing aparatus on and went under water...I could not believe my eyes. Right where I had been standing, fish were swimming right along next to me. I was amazed and in awe! We tried touching them but of course, they shied away from us. It was one of the most incredible things I have ever seen! Bring an underwater camera - you won't want to miss this!

Waimea Canyon - Keke'e Trail

This trail waas beautiful. Once you got about 3/4 miles into, the trail splits and you have the choice to go to the cliffs or to the waterfalls. We did both trails and I'm so thrilled that we did. The first cliff was just a nice view, but you got a great picture out of it. The waterfall trail was my favorite. It made us work up a sweat but yet brought out our adventurous side. We loved the hiking over the rocks and tree limbs, down the sloping mountain, over rocky terrain - it was quite a trip and what a site. We even walked down a little farther, took our shoes off and waded in the waterfall pool. It was heavenly and something out of a movie! It is worth the sweat that it takes you to get to the end.
