Overview

We loved the Wild Animal Park. It is about 25 minutes outside of San Diego. Go early, take the tram ride first and be prepared for an adventure. It was so awesome to see the animals in a "natural" environment. We enjoyed the San Diego Zoo as well. The Pandas were cool, but there were so many people there. It is a very hilly zoo. A lot to see and hard to figure out the map. Our 15 month old prefered the Wild Animal Park. At the Zoo a lot of the animals were sleeping. Old Town, Little Italy, Downtown, La Jolla are all great places as well. Quick Tips: It is good to have a plan of attack. We bought a membership to the Zoo that allows you into both parks as much as you want, plus a lot ...Read More

We loved this place. We got a great rate on Expedia (109 per night). The price included a King size bed, free parking, free cont. breakfast, kitchen and friendly service. The location is great. It is across the street from Balboa park. The hotel has been renovated, the bathrooms have old fixtures. It happened to be very cold at night (central heating). It was very clean. The only problem is that they have a happy hour on Friday and there was a line out the door for the 4 person elevator. They even gave us a discount for the restaurant. We would stay there again. it was great for families. Again, it was VERY clean. It has much more character than a chain hotel.

This was an incredible experience. Take the safari as soon as you enter the park. The line was an hour (short). We got to see newborn animals and the animals were out and about unlike the day before at the SanDiego Zoo. Make sure you sit on the right side of the tram. I read this ahead of time and was thrilled, otherwise you miss so much. After the Safari we had lunch at the outdoor cafe. Great kids meals and a yummy veggie burger. Another hint is to pay the few extra dollars for VIP parking. It is worth every cent. Wear comfy shoes and take your time.
