Overview

This is like a living Eden. Dark rich colors of green and thick towering brown stalks. It looks and feels like a primeval forest.

Quick Tips:

Don't miss Stuarts grove. It has to rival as the most peaceful walk in the most beautiful place on earth.

Best Way To Get Around:

It's a wonderful drive from Crescent City

Attraction

The Skunk Cabbage (why?) trail starts just north of Orick, and leads through the coastal ranges to a viewpoint after about 2 miles. Continue down another 2 miles to the sandy stormy shores to be battered by gale-force winds amongst washed-up timbers. A short hike, very easy to do. It is possible to continue north up on another trail, but did not have time to explore this.
