A September 2006 trip
to Playa del Coco by OzzieW
Quote: I had a fantastic day diving with Rich Coast. The underwater life was amazing, the personnel was professional and nice. Everybody should try them!
The next day we met at the shop in the morning, to have another cup of coffee and a chat with the other divers. We had a nice walk to the beach, where a small panga was already waiting to take us to the boat: a trimaran called the Tahonga. Because it’s a trimaran, it slides through the waves so easily that you don’t even feel the waves. The divemasters were already on the boat, and they’d set up our gear for us. (I rented their equipment: it was in good condition.) The entire staff was really friendly, but professional as well. There seem to be numerous dive sites around Coco, and because I wanted to see manta’s, they picked the best spot. But the manta’s, weren’t alone: we saw spotted eagle rays, white tip reef sharks, seahorses, turtles, moray eels, and much more. (There also seem to be whales and whale sharks around, but I wasn’t that lucky to see them as well.) All the time you are surrounded by big schools of fish, which you can sometimes even touch: it’s a great view. Also, on the boat ride out, we had three dolphins accompanying the boat! After we got back, the tea was ready: it’s always nice to have a place to relax and enjoy a drink after diving. The Dutch owners are really nice as well, and they even took me and some other divers out for dinner. I had a great time diving with Rich Coast, and I’d like to thank the entire staff. Everyone should try them out, so if you are planning on going to Costa Rica, pay Rich Coast a visit!
