San Francisco with FFlyer Miles

In those 3 days we managed to eat on the pier at Santa Cruz. It was a rough, stormy day. We almost got blown off the pier. Being from the East Coast, it's a beautiful memory of a forceful Pacific Ocean. Took route 1 back to San Francisco. Exciting in the rain, with the mud pouring down the mountains on one side and a steep drop to the Pacific on the other.

Quick Tips:

Alcatraz offered beautiful views of the city. Muir Woods was majestic with the huge Redwood Trees. The trip up the winding mountainous road was half the fun. Napa Valley was a fun morning and afternoon. Robert Mondavi tour was a must see. The best part was approaching the Golden Gate Bridge and seeing San Francisco glowing white in the sunshine.

Best Way To Get Around:

The city is so easy to walk around. Living in a small town, made walking a treat. You have to rent a car to see Napa and Muir Woods, but don't go to San Francisco without seeing these and of course riding route 1.

The lobby of this hotel was old and beautiful. We were given a large corner room, with a view of the bay. Great for the price.

Ate all over the city, but Scala's in our hotel was the best restaurant for the price. Reservations were required, but since we were staying at the hotel, we were seated almost immediately when we informed the help of that fact. Even their breakfast oatmeal was the most delicious I have ever had.

Beautiful, quiet a "back to nature" retreat from the big city. Two hours there refreshed us for an evening in San Francisco. A fabulous spot to stop for a snack on the way back to the city is the town of Sausalito. Homes cling to steep hills overlooking the bay. You can grab an ice cream cone and just stare at the beautiful bay and city across the way.
