An October 2005 trip to Lisbon by myrdal

I have been in Lisbon quite a few times, from my childhood in familiar trips to last autumn. Evidently, for Spanish people, Portugal is a Country geographically and spiritually near. In some historical periods our fate has been the same.

I think Lisbon is that kind of city where everybody could be able to feel comfortable. For me it is a city with multiple faces as your feelings. If you feel sad, Lisbon could be the most melancholic city, if you are in love, the most romantic place, and so on. In Lisbon it is necessary to fulfil all the tourist topics, one should go to the old quarter called Alfama square and wanders oneself about its narrow streets, and of course it is almost compulsory going to a Fado restaurant in order to listen to one of the saddest songs I’ve ever heard. Nights in the Upper Quarter have a strong local colour, and one can find a huge variety of restaurants and bars for all the trends, tendencies and tastes. Anyway, whenever you come back to Lisbon you will find new facets of the city.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

Modern hotel with very friendly staff. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. I was accommodated in a wide room (triple) with kitchen and dining room and a resting area with a comfortable sofa bed and wing chairs. The hotel has a very spacious and clean sauna.

It has a great location, only a 10-minute walk to Marques de Pombal plaza.

Attraction

Pavilhão Chinês
Very original bar where you can drink from different herbal teas to wines or any other kind of alcohol drinks. Different ambiences in this bar full of wooden cabins packed of quirky objects. There is a salon with billiards and you can also play darts. Very quiet bar in the early hours of the evening.
