Family Fun at Eagle Crest

A July 2006 trip to Redmond by kesh4

Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond Oregon is a golfer's paradise, but it's also a resort highly recommend for families.

Eagle Crest caters to golfers and families. It is a very large resort divided by a main road into two sections, Eagle Crest and Eagle Ridge, the latter being the quieter side, (think bedroom community). Both sides have one to four bedroom condos/chalets. Eagle Crest has a recreation center, an inn, three swimming pools (one for the inn), a restaurant, and a golf course that meanders thru the property. Eagle Ridge has a small recreation center with an indoor pool, a restaurant, and golf course. All in all, a lovely resort with many amenities.

Quick Tips:

When you are making a reservation make sure you understand which side of the property your accommodations are on so you can decide what amenities you would like to be closest too. We didn't do that so our older girls needed to be driven to the outdoor pool located on the other side of the main road. Families, especially, might want to consider this so their children can easily access the activity areas. The main restaurant is a bit pricey, but there are plenty of restaurants within driving distance to satisfy everyone's pocketbook (and palate).

Best Way To Get Around:

Since Eagle Crest is such a large resort, I would suggest a car for getting around the property and the surrounding areas. Don't forget you are heading to high desert country so there is a lot of space to travel on.

I think the nicest accommodations at Eaglecrest are the 3 bedrooms duplex-style homes with a Jacuzzi on the deck. There is a master bedroom upstairs that is wonderfully roomy with a step-up bathtub in the room... quite classy and private. I was in awe the first time I saw it. The downstairs has two bedrooms with a comfortable, nicely decorated living room, dining area, and nice sized kitchen. The deck overlooks the well-groomed golf course.

It really makes a difference staying in one of these duplexes vs. the other accommodations on the property. The two bedroom unit we stayed this last summer is very nice though. Even though it was a two bedroom one floor condo, there was a lot of room. The entry is large leading into the living room and dining/kitchen area. The dining room table is huge, with seats for 8 people. The master bedroom is at one end of the unit with the other two at the opposite end, which is very nice for private retreat. There is also a deck, but alas...no Jacuzzi!
