Rodeo Clown Reunion
We are rodeo fans, so when we found out the Rodeo Clown Reunion was going to be in Pendleton Oregon this year at the Round-Up, we booked our flight.

We decided to leave early, see the coast, travel on the historic Columbia River Gorge Highway and spend 5 days enjoying the festival that surrounds Pendleton.

There are four rodeo performances, a main street festival, a completely non-motorized parade, and a cowboy breakfast every morning.

What a beautiful state. We saw three completely different climate zones. We met friendly people from all over the US.
Everyone who is a rodeo fan should make plans to visit this at least once.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

Delightful, restored 1941 motor court. The rooms are charming. Gearhart is a quiet little town on the coast away from the busy tourist towns. Beach is close by.

Decor was retro. Our room had kictchenette.

The staff was helpful and friendly.

Rooms are small, but well appointed. One room has a private bath with claw-foot tub and shower. The other 3 rooms share a half-bath, shower room, and full bath with claw-foot tub.

Incredible view of Columbia River.

Mosier is a quaint town, population 430.

Breakfast was wonderful. We had huevos rancheros-- 2 eggs on pinto beans and tortilla, topped with sprouts, avocado, tomato, green onions and salsa. Strawberries in sour cream were served on the side.

Price was very reasonable for the gorge area

Each room has a theme at this charming set of log cabins just steps away from the Columbia River. Our room had a full kitchen and a riverfront view.

The bathroom was very tiny. Only drawback to the room.

We stayed in the "Calypso" room which featured an aquatic theme. It was nice without being overwhelming.

The grounds are beautifully landscaped and there is access to to a walking trail just in front of the lodge.

The railroad runs across the street and the whistles blow all day and night. The lodge provides earplugs. I didn't use them and did not wake up at all during the night.

Stevenson is a nice town with several restaurants.

Attraction | "Ecola Sate Park"

Oregon Coastline
This park is at the top of a very narrow, winding, dangerous road. The views make it all worth while. You can see for miles, even with the fog.

Attraction

This is the place to be after the rodeo. This little bar fills to capacity every evening. The drinks are inexpensive ($2 beers and $3 well drinks), the bar staff friendly, and the patrons crazy.
