Huntsville, AL --- You wouldn't think

A January 2000 trip to Huntsville by Roamer

Huntsville and surrounding cities. Good food, fishing, hiking, Marshall Space Flight Center, and other interesting things. Prices are quite reasonable, no crowds, and a an airport which is quite efficient. A good place to get away on a relaxing inexpensive vacation.

Monte Sano State park has remodeled cabins in the hills with breath taking views. Cabins run about .00 a night and there are plenty of hiking trails to keep you going. About a fifteen minute drive away is Marshall Space Flight Center. You can take a tour and visit Space Camp where kids from all over the country come and learn about space travel. After that, you can hop in the car and take an hour drive through beautiful country to Lynchburg, Tennessee and visit the Jack Daniels distillery. Funny enough, Lynchburg is a dry town. However, the distillery is allowed to sell an anniversary bottle of Jack Daniels to visitors. The tour is quite amazing. You will see first hand the process for making Jack Daniels and even see the underground water source for the whiskey. All the Jack Daniels in the world comes from this one distillery. After a day in Lynchburg, head back to Lake Guntersville just outside of Huntsville. This is one of the most breathtaking lakes I have seen. Nestled in the hills with a quaint little town to boot, it’s screaming for anglers to test their skills.

Quick Tips:

Beauregard's for Buffalo wings and ribs on University Dr.

Best Way To Get Around:

Excellent. Clean with kitchen, bath, screened porch, and fridge. Nestled in the trees with a fantastic view. Hiking trails available with plenty of wildlife. The cabins have been remodeled and are equipped with heating and air conditioning and have nice big fireplaces.
