Mariannas Getaway

A September 2006 trip to Guam by Eric from Aiea

Quote: Though still recovering from the destruction of a 2002 super typhoon, Guam's beaches and reefs are worth a visit out to the Mariannas.

Caspian Grill

Restaurant

Quote:
The Caspian Grill features kabobs from the Near East. The prices are very good for the amount of food that is served with an entrée. The different chicken kabobs are highly recommended. But it is not the main entrée that is the best draw to the Caspian Grill - it is their version of the pita that is the show stopper. It is a large warm flat naan type bread that is truly outstanding. Do not miss ordering their baklava as well, which got two thumbs up from this reviewer for its structure and taste. That alone is worth a follow up visit!

Marty's Mexican Merienda & Cantina

Attraction | "Marty's Mexican Merienda & Cantina "

Quote:
Way out in the Marianas, and having hunger pains for some decent Mexican food and bottled Mexican beers? Then you might want to head off the main drag on Tuoman Bay and go over to Marty’s for lunch or dinner. Open since 1980, Marty’s has a restaurant area and a cantina section. They also have what is probably the best Margaritas on the island.Night time at Marty’s on Tuesdays and Fridays nights finds a live band playing Latino music in the cantina, and a fun good sized crowd that includes tourists, local families, military, and everyone else. Meals include chips and Marty's excellent salsa that is just the right heat. Entrees include Culiacan Shrimp, wrapped in bacon and grilled with lemo...Read More

Micronesia Mall

Attraction

Quote:
With 120 or so stores, and Macy's as the anchor, the Micronesia Mall is definitely what you would expect to find in an American Territory. The mall is also a good central place to get your pre-paid telephone cards for calls home on your cellphone, and or SIM chip for using the local cellphone system. One of the best tourist items you can get on Guam is one of the T-shirts from the Harley-Davidson shop on the 2nd Floor. The back of the new shirts ($25) has a Harley Mariannas design that it pretty sharp looking. The old designs are harder to find. There is an ABC store in the Mall, with a few more items than the ones every 100 meters on Hotel Road, particularly in the T-Shirt selections. Ther...Read More
