Udaipuri n the state of Rajasthan in western India is known as the Venice of the east. It is also called the city of lakes. The Lake Palace on Jag Niwas Island in the middle of Pichola Lake and the grand City Palace on the banks of the lake complimenting each other are architectural delight.

Lake Palace- The spotless grand palace in white marble keeps you spellbound.

The palace standing in midst of the lake Pichola is approachable by boats.

Lake Palace is also known as Jag Niwas. It used to be the residence for the royal family. Presently, the palace has been converted into a hotel. Its spacious rooms, big balconies, terrace gardens, water fountains and arched windows really keep you mesmerized for long. The rooms are well decorated with paintings, crystal work and stained glass work.

City Palace- A trip to the famous city palace monument is taken by all visitors to Udaipur.

The palace was built by Maharana Udai Singh and his predecessors did the later additions. The city palace is a unique blend of different arts.

The rooms in the city palace monument have paintings, antique furniture, exquisite glass mirror and ornamental tiles work.

Other attractions in Udaipur are Saheliyon ki Bari, Jagdish Temple and Maharana Pratap Memorial

Saheliyon ki Bari is a famous garden which is a must place to visit for the tourist traveling Udaipur. Saheliyon ki Bari also known as the 'Garden of Royal Ladies' and it is behind the Fateh Sagar Lake. It provides a cool green environment from the scorching dry climate. It is famous for its lotus pool, marbled elephants sprinkling water.

Jagdish Temple
This Jagannath temple with a different name in Udaipur is known as Jagdish temple.

It was built by Maharana Jagat Singh in 1651. The foothold of the Jagdish temple steps has two spotless white elephants on both the sides to greet you to the temple. Maharana Pratap Memorial is a historic monument in Udaipur. The statue of Maharana Pratap riding his favorite horse Chetak is made up of bronze. Chetak, the horse of Maharana was considered very faithful to him.

We stayed at Hotel Hilton, which has spacious rooms, a good all day coffee shop and other dining places. It has a swimming pool, gymnasium, lovely gardens.

The visitors to Udaipur should travel in the winter time, as summer in Rajasthan is quite hot.

Udaipur is well connected by air with Mumbai and Delhi. Train and road connections are also available with Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur.
