My husband and I and our good friends were the first official guests of the newly opened Maplestone Inn in New Paltz, NY this past Labor Day (2006). We knew it would be nice, but we were pleasantly surprised to find it was even more delightful than we had anticipated. Located about an hour and a half’s drive from New York City in the scenic Hudson Valley area, the Maplestone Inn is a newly restored farmhouse located on 7 acres of property. With both country touches and tasteful elegance, the Maplestone Inn offers beautiful guest rooms and plenty of cozy common spaces for socializing, reading, and relaxing.
And when you are ready to explore the downtown of New Paltz (you may never want to leave), you are conveniently situated just a couple miles away. Hiking and wineries are easily accessible from this location as well.
Our hosts and the owners, Sean and Patty, were generous, warm and thoughtful hosts. They anticipated our every need—welcoming us to enjoy a guest fridge and toiletry basket, offering up tips and suggestions for exploring the area, drawing out a map of the nearest jogging trail, and placing chocolates and water on our bedside at night. Furthermore, Sean and Patty’s daughter Kayla is a Culinary Institute of America-trained chef, who thrilled us with her three-course gourmet breakfasts, which were delicious and artfully presented.
There are three guest rooms at prices ranging from $175 to $225. This place is a special treat! You will not want to leave, I promise!
