From Oslo to Bergen

I was probably in Oslo at the best time, summer. There was a summer festival and it could be felt all around you. The yachting harbour was full of people walking and sitting in the "terraces." They take profit of some big ships and they have been transformed them in very pleasant restaurants. The town center (Karl Johan Street) was also a steam of beauty and smart people that were sharing conversations and beer with friends.

Quick Tips:

I strongly recommend doing the rail trip to Bergen. The Norwegian rail company has a programme of different ways to do the journey. You can combine train, bus, and, of course, boat through the Sognefjord. Unforgivable don´t catch the Flam train, and at the end of this trip, Bergen, the fjord´s capital.

Best Way To Get Around:

In my experience it is faster and easier obtain information directly in the Oslo Central Station. The tourist information (out of the Station) is crowded and not very good informed about prices and timetable.

Expensive, but we have no choice. We spent every night we stayed in Oslo in a different hotel. Between them also Noble House, Rica (I think the best relation price/quality), and another one near the Grand Hotel (Norlandia Hotel), in the Karl Johan street, very good placed, but the room was very little, queen bed (little for two) and the price expensive for these characteristics.

The best way of booking a room when there is an event in Oslo is through Internet. The hotel receptions don't know the real availability of rooms because there is a number of remaining rooms for Internet hotel reservation companies. Also fares are better in Internet.
