Best Way To Get Around:

Walking

Backstreets RestaurantBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Backstreets: Gotta Love the Baked Spaghetti"

An absolutely delicious restaurant in the heart of the downtown area. Situated right on Main Street, they offer secluded booths with subtle lighting, or a nice view from the outside dining area. Fine Italian cuisine and at a price that won't break the wallet.

Mike's GrillBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Mike's Grill: The Best Calzones in Town"

A great place for no frill dining. If you want to just grab a burger and fries, or maybe a Philly cheesesteak, this is the place to go. Quick service has you in and out in less than 30 minutes if you'd like. Or you can lounge around and watch one of the numerous tv's they have on.

Restaurant

A unique Greek offering of the country's most classic dishes. Souvlakis and gyros are their most famous offerings, and the meat of choice is lamb. A truly genuine taste of the Mediterranean in an affordable and quick package.

Attraction | "Hokie House: Plenty of Pool Tables"

If there is one bar that you must stop at while in town, it is the Hokie House. Cheap drinks and a huge two floor bar, you are sure to have a good time. They have 6 pool tables & air hockey that is sure to keep you and your friends entertained.

The RivermillBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "The Rivermill: The Laid-Back Location in Downtown"

This is seclusion at its best. Located adjacent to downtown, it is right near the action but manages to maintain its low key energy. It is a great place to unwind by yourself or with friends, as its welcoming atmosphere and prompt service help to wash away the stress of the day.

I would not recommend it unless it is your only option or you live in the area. The theater is generally small with lackluster sound. The picture quality isn't that great, and the seats are rather uncomfortable. Nevertheless I give it 2.5 out of 5 stars. A far cry from the movie theaters in Northern Virginia I'm afraid.

An amazing, unrestricted, and unregulated shooting range. There are about 10 covered shooting stations with tables, and an unlimited number of uncovered shooting stations for sitting or prone firing. A friendly atmosphere and its self regulating setup, encourages you to meet new people. A great place to enjoy your firearms.

A beautiful golf course that winds around and about campus. It makes a scenic pass by the Duck Pond. Many gorgeous views of the Blue Ridge to soak in as you play around of golf. It is where the VT golf team practices as well.

The Duck Pond is exactly what you would imagine. A beautiful pond teeming with wildlife. Bring the children and let them feed the friendly ducks with bread. Big Al’sBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Big Al's"

One of the most popular places downtown. If you want to go to a place with a lot of activity then this is the place to go. Two floors of drinking and this place is always jumping. A good choice for an individual or a group. Plus they have mini shuffleboard!

Hokie FootballBest of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

It is a must to see a VT Hokie football game. The stadium has just been renovated to seat more people than ever, and it still fills up. It is a high energy environment, that defines the excitement of college football at its best. The turkey legs they sell at the game are truly unique and feed you throughout the entire game.

New River JunctionBest of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

A short drive from Blacksburg leads you down to the New River Junction. It is a beautiful area that offers lake front relaxing, tubing, rafting, hiking and biking. The New River winds through the mountains leaving you with breathtaking views. Definitely worth the seemingly short and scenic 15 minute drive.
