Many of my friends decided that they would give me a unique gift as a wedding present. Instead of China, Tupperware, or golf clubs they decided to give me something I would never forget. They were going to take me to three major league baseball stadiums in 3 days time. The only problem was they decided to do this after I got married. They got permission from my wife and found a 3-day weekend so I didn't have to miss work. Since all the details had been worked out it was now time for the fun.The trip started with a flight into Pittsburgh to enjoy a day game at PNC. I had heard good things about PNC, but had no idea what I was in for. PNC received its name from the PNC banking chain locate...Read More

Manny's BBQ at PNC Park

Most people have the opinion that they have to eat a hot dog when they enjoy a game, well as with most things in life I am a touch different. I am not the biggest hot dog fan, so I choose to eat the craziest or almost craziest thing I can find at the ballpark. When I went to PNC I was very pleased with the food line up. There was the traditional hot dogs, nachos, and pizza, but there were also things like Philly Steak Sandwiches and the item that caught my eye Manny’s Pulled Pork Sandwich. In Center field they have Manny’s BBQ. It is named after Manny Sanguillen who played for the Pirates for 13 years and was a three time all star. Sometimes he is even manning the pits out there. Well, anyway, ...Read More

Okay let's think about this for a second or two. Top two or three players in the history of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Stumped Honus Wagner, Roberto Clemente, Willie Stargell, well yes they are all up at the top. Oh, you said Barry Bonds. I'm sorry, but we really don't want to go there right now. Anyway you have gotten me off track already.Anyway our second question was about the greatest Puerto Rican ball player of all time. Well you know already that that name from above is going to be there again. So we've got Roberto Clemente who is the greatest Puerto Rican ball player and one of the greatest players in Pirates history, so let's name a huge yellow bridge after his name, put a monument...Read More

PNC From the Best to Worst Seat

When I arrived at PNC I was excited and I had high expectations from some of the things I had heard about the stadium, but at the same time I had been disappointed by stadiums so many times that I was prepared for a let down. The area I normally am disappointed with is the ability to watch a baseball game with ease. It seems that for some reason baseball stadiums are not built to watch a baseball game, but maybe watch the left fielder chew sunflower seeds or see the guys in the bullpen shoot water balloons at the camera men. If you think I am joking on that one I’m not, just stay tuned to my reviews and you will learn all about that when we make our way to the West Coast. As for watching the game ...Read More

One thing to think about when visiting PNC is that there is many things that can be done in conjunction with the trip depending on the length of trip. Our trip was a baseball trip that did not allow for much time, but because of Pittsburgh's proximity to other large cities we were allowed to travel to Cleveland and Cincinnati to enjoy games in a three day span. The same most likely can be accomplished by heading east as well with Philadelphia just on the other side of the state. There is much do do in this area of the country so don't limit yourself to just a game at PNC. If you are a sports fan visiting PNC you might also consider working a trip that involves catching a Steelers game at Heinz...Read More
