This was an excursion offered by the cruise line, with three to four people to a boat. We were fishing for salmon or halibut, although only one of us caught halibut. The ubiquitous rock fish seemed to be on the menu that day. After we caught our fish, we were driven to a boat house on the water where our guides cooked up our fish and served them alongside some skimpy sides. I found it curious that our halibut apparently disappeared and we were only served rockfish (something smells fishy).

Overall, it was a fun experience, and it was nice to look up into the towering trees and spot the white heads of bald eagles.

Glacier Climbing (General)Best of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Glacier Climbing in Juneau, AK"

A helicopter drops you off on a flat portion of the glacier and you hike to the first jutting walls of ice and begin climbing. Mostly hiking, although there will be one or two spots where the guide will set up a rope and you climb up after him. Nothing scary or dangerous. You feel like you're in another world, doing something no one else is doing. The ice is a great lesson in geometry (the wide range of crystals). Great way to get back to nature in a truly unique way.
