Restaurant | "The Roof"

We went to The Roof for our anniversary. It was very nice and romantic. There was a lit candle on our table. The lights were dimmed. There was a man playing classical music on a piano. The view of Salt Lake City and Temple Square was awesome. The food is excellent. I even liked the Clam Chowder and I am picky about Clam Chowder. The food is a buffet. The servers were very polite and professional. They do not serve alcoholic beverages.

The Soup KitchenBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

The Soup Kitchen is in an obscure area near an overpass. It is great food though. It is probably only known about by people who work in the area. You can eat in, take out, and they also do catering.
The Soup Kitchen has a wide variety of homemade soups and sandwiches. You get some delicious homemade bread sticks with every order. They make a variety of bread stick flavors. They also serve yummy sandwiches. They are only open during the daytime.

Discovery GatewayBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Children's Museum of Utah"

The Children's Museum is a hands-on learning adventure for children. There are so many things for kids to do: unbury dinosaur bones, sit in the cockpit of a plane, shop at a pretend grocery store, try on firefighter's clothes, paint, act out plays on a stage, experiment with magnets and many other activities. There is even a playroom for very young children. One area is for crawlers and one area in for walking children. They also have rooms to host birthday parties. My kids think the Children's Museum is one of the best places to go.

Attraction

Hogle Zoo
The Hogle Zoo is a fun place to visit. There is a wide variety of animals. There is a butterfly exhibit that you can walk through. There is also a playground for the kids to play on after they get tired of looking at animals. There is a drinking fountain that is a lion and you have to put your head inside the lion's mouth to get a drink. Kids just love that.

Gallivan CenterBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Taste of Salt Lake"

It is a festival featuring food from a lot of different restaurants. The food is a little cheaper than you could get in the restaurants. There are some music concerts that are free also. I wouldn't take my kids to this, because I really don't think concerts are a good place for young kids.

Jordan River Parkway TrailBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Walking/Running/Biking Trail"

This is a mostly paved trail that runs from Salt Lake City south, through a lot of the Salt Lake Valley. It follows the Jordan River. It is a fun place to ride bikes, run, walk, or rollerblade. There are some picnic tables and benches along the way. Dogs on leashes are allowed but you need to clean up after them.

Wheeler Historic FarmBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Wheeler Farm"

Wheeler Farm
Wheeler farm is a farm that you can visit and walk through. They have your usual pigs, sheep, cows, ducks, horses, rabbits, geese, and other animals. My kids especially enjoy bringing old bread to feed the ducks. There is a tractor-pulled wagon ride that costs about $1each. The kids love the wagon ride. I really didn't enjoy going over some of the ruts and bumps while sitting on a hard wood bench. There's plenty of places to have a picnic, and also various other things for the kids to do. They also host birthday parties at wheeler farm. Wheeler Farm has a fishing pond, and also a store to buy farm stuff at.

Lagoon RV Park & CampgroundBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Lagoon"

Lagoon
Lagoon has a lot of fun rides for kids and adults. They also have a water park. Sometimes the lines to get on rides are really short, and sometimes they are long. It all depends on the time of day. My kids love the kiddie rides. I used to love all the rides for older people until I got motion sick. The Colausus is probably the most popular ride. There are height requirements on a lot of the rides. Our 6-year old kid was not tall enough for most of the big rides. There are rides the whole family can go on, such as the log ride. If you want to get completely soaked, the ride called "Rattlesnake Rapids" will drench you. Some other favorites are "The Rocket" and the huge Ferris Wheel. This amusement park has a ride for everyone.

Salt Lake City MarathonBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Salt Lake City Marathon & Half Marathon"

Last year I watched my mom run the Salt Lake City Marathon. One thing that was good was that you could watch in one spot, then drive to the next spot. We saw her in several different places along the route, plus at the finish line. The route was lined with cheering people.

This year I ran the Salt Lake City Half-Marathon. It started at the same time as the full marathon. The lines for the porta-potties were horrible. We waited in line for 45 minutes to use the potty. The race course was nice, and there were people out to cheer the runners on. I liked that it ended at the Gateway. I didn't like that there was a water stop missing in the race, so I was very thirsty. I would run it again but bring my own water.
