If you're a surfer, or you just want to give surfing a go, Warm Winds surf shop has everything you need, plus more to shoot the curl at Narragansett Town Beach. Located just a 1-minute walk from the beach, Warm Winds has a wide selection of surf, skim, and bodyboards to even snow and skateboards. If you're an avid surfer, then you can browse their basement full of all styles of surf and bodyboards. On the other hand, if you just want to try surfing for a day, they have six rental boards ranging from 7'6" tp 8'6". However, if you are going to rent a board, try to get there around opening (10am) so they have a board left!

The uncrowded end
The main attraction of Narragansett is with no doubt Town Beach (as one could obviously tell with the size of crowds during summer!). With its shallow shelf with a soft, sandy bottom it is a perfect beach to bodysurf or just stand and enjoy the water. Another plus, one that I especially enjoyed, was the nicely shaped waves which are very good for any level of surfing. And because of the number of swimmers and surfers, there is a section blocked off for only surfers, and a section for only swimmers.

There is a pavilion located in the middle of the beach where one can buy a day or season pass (yes, there is admission) as well as a place to take surf lessons or get bite to eat. Admission for a day is $5 per person, but if you're going to be at the beach every day for a week it would be worth it for convenience to buy a season pass for $30.

This beach is without a doubt the nicest beach I have been to in the Northeast despite the crowds that can accumulate, and I especially recommend it to any surfer or people wanting to give surfing a try.

Attraction

Caught the wave
The smaller of the two surf shops right near Narragansett Town Beach, Gansett Juice has a modest selection of surfboards and wetsuits, as well as short boards and long boards for rent. The price for renting a surfboard is the same as Warm Winds, $30, but Gansett Juice has a better and cheaper selection of rash guards. If you are going to rent a surfboard, I do highly recommend purchasing a rash guard, and Gansett Juice sells quality rash guards at only $20.
