I went on a quick business trip to Chicago and loved this city. This is a review of my one night there.

A Day In Chicago

Overview

In warm weather take a walk along the river front. I was only able to drive by it and vow to return in the spring when it's warmer so I can do it myself.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

Taxi or rental car to get from the airport to the city. Once in the city you can walk or catch cabs everywhere.

House of Blues

A fun, hip environment that combines a hotel with restaurants, bars, health club/spa and even a 36 lane bowling center.

The rooms were as colorful as the rest of the hotel and included great art work. There''s also a fax machine, CD player, VCR and internet access in every room.

The hotel is located near the business district andclose to other bars, restaurants and attractions so you''ll never run out of things to do.

Bootlegger's

Attraction

Bootleggers

A very casual bar that will remind you of your college days. Lots of wood and typical bar decor. There's a bar in front and a pool table in the rear of the place. We were there on a Tuesday night and they had a DJ spinning some fun hits of the 80's. We were warmly greeted at the door and immediately all treated to free shooters. The staff and patrons were very friendly even though it was obvious we didn't blend, were from out of town and very over-dressed. After getting used to the environment we had a great night unwinding from our travel and meetings. This isn't the type of place I'd choose to hang out in but given the late hour and limited choices this was a fun bar.

The Kaz Bar Lounge

Attraction

The Kaz Bar Lounge

The Kaz Bar is a great lounge right off the main lobby of the House of Blues. It's a dark, comfortable lounge with plenty of little enclaves to escape into. There are also multiple couches and overstuffed chairs to relax on while enjoying your drink. The drink menu was wonderful. I highly recommend the large "River" martini for $16.00. They also have a light appetizer menu available. The only downside is that they close at midnight so you have to leave the hotel if you want to continue your night out. Take a stroll to the bathrooms and check out all the interesting art work hanging on the walls.
