Guadeloupe Adventure

Overview

Pointe des Chateaux, La Soufriére, Chutes du Carbet, St, Anne, Le Gosier, Grande Anse. Visit the beaches and explore Parc National, where you'll see waterfalls, tropical rain forests and volcanoes.Quick Tips: Know French. At least know common phrases/words. Although this island is beautiful, the people and tourists don't speak much English, and some are down right nasty. Some people will give you an attitude if you don't speak French, even if you are trying. I found the tourists to be worse than the natives. 99% of everything is written and spoken in French so it makes it a little tough to get around. Be sure to get a MAP! It will be your best friend if you're exploring on your own. Also, bew...Read More

One of the more beautiful beaches on the island, this beach has silky white sand and lined with palm trees. Across the street is many restaurants and bars, and nearby is the Club Med Resort. This beach is popular for anybody, including families.

This is an active volcano that takes several hours to climb. This climb is NOT for those who are scared of heights or inexperienced with hiking. You start out having to hike about 30 minutes to get to the base of the volcano because the base parking lot is no longer open. You start out in sunny conditions, which quickly deteriorate as you hike farther up. It's best to go early, because the later you go, the more likely you'll encounter clouds, hurricane-strength winds, and rain towards the top of the volcano, and you won't see much. This experience is one of the best and worst experiences of my life. It's awesome climbing the volcano, looking down at the Caribbean ocean and seeing old eruption flow...Read More

Pointe des Chateaux Sea Cliffs

This is probably one of the coolest places, at least in the Caribbean. It is the furthermost point of the Grande-Terre section of Guadeloupe, and it's where The Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean sea meet. Therefore, there are massive, violent waves and eroded rocks that form interesting shapes and textures. The beach here is nice on one side and very rocky on the other. You can sit and watch the waves for hours, it's so beautiful. You can climb to the top of the eroded cliffs and get an outstanding view of the oceans as well as the mountains/volcano of Basse-Terre. Be prepared to get wet if you're walking along this site, as the waves are so high and crash so violently that they spray up water quite far.

Out of all the hotels/bars in Gosier, I liked the atmosphere and drinks here best. The bar is outside with a roof but no walls. There is plenty of seating in the area. Drinks are about $3-$6, no matter what time of day. Their Pina Colada and Ti-Punch are great. People here seem to be the friendliest. There is a casino one block up. Phone: 05-90-842424
