A January 2006 trip
to Guadeloupe by kona
Quote: A butterfly-shaped island in the French Antilles of the Caribbean, a trip here is a true adventure. With everything from active volcanoes to white sandy beaches, this place has a lot of exploring to do.

Attraction | "La Soufriére Volcano"
It's awesome climbing the volcano, looking down at the Caribbean ocean and seeing old eruption flows and sulfur deposits. But it's also extremely dangerous having to watch your every step over huge boulders with jagged edges, no railing to catch you if you slip, and barely any markers to lead your way. Once you reach the top, if it's late in the day, you'll encounter strong winds and rain that threaten to push you into the crater and temperatures that are MUCH cooler than at base, so bring a jacket!
