Attraction

The Adirondack Museum is about a 30 min drive from Long Lake, and if you are visiting the Adirondacks it is definitely a must see. The museum is really great for kids, but is also very interesting for adults.

Great exhibits on guide boats, the history of the Adirondack Park, famous residents, and so on.

Admission is $15 for adults, and $8 for children. However, if you purchase a membership admission is always free for up to two adults and two children, and its a great way to help support and preserve the history of the area.

The museum gift shop is great too, it has lots of great local crafts and interesting books.

Buttermilk Falls State ParkBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Buttermilk Falls"

Buttermilk Falls is a gorgeous waterfall in Long Lake, NY. Its not very big, but its definitely beautiful. Its reached by a very short, flat walk. The area surrounding it has picnic tables and stone fireplaces. Its definitely a great place for swimming and jumping. Definitely keep an eye on young children though, sometimes the current can be pretty strong. The area where there is a strong current is very small and flows out to a calm pool - but just the same caution never hurts!

Another great activity would be to check out this sight:

I know there is a great, easy letterbox located at buttermilk falls.
