Rainy and crowded, but still, a worthy destination.

Subway NY
This was my second visit to the island and i have to walk a little bit more, so i could learn and see more about the real New York experience.
But not everything was walk, we also bought one of those trips on a double deck red bus (50dlls 48hrs), that takes you to the "hot spots" in Manhattan (empire state building, Macy's, times square, central park, museums, a Harlem's tour, liberty statute, Brooklyn bridge, ground zero, little Italy, Brooklyn tour, ecc...) whit a hop on and off system. But if you don't want to feel like just another tourist, you have to walk, not a little bit, a lot. That's the best way to "live the big apple".

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

By foot and subway.
The subway is cheap, clean, fast and safe. You can buy a day pass (buy 5 trips and get 1 free) or a week pass, which are cheaper than the single trip (2dlls).
This is (according to me) the best way to see and know the lifestyle of the real new Yorkers. The stations are very colorful, and you can see a lot of local artists, singing, painting or dancing.
There are several lines across the island, and practically you can go to every way (adding a small walk) by subway.

An excellent location, only a few steps from Broadway and Times Square. The rooms are clean (and i say rooms, because we have to move to another room because the first one had half carpet wet) and small (but which room in Manhattan is big? for that price, i mean).

Comfortable bed, closet big enough, two bedsides tables, t.v. and a desk, and a nice and small (again) bathroom. The staff is very kind and they speak several languages, and also they have a desk for tourist info (tickets for Broadway, taxis, limos or tourist brochure). The hotel has a restaurant, and a breakfast buffet, which i don't recommend because is very limited. Better walk a little bit and have breakfast in a restaurant, almost for the same price. In the same block there are 2 theaters, and from our window we can see the beginning of times square. Check out the pic.

It's worth the money you pay per night.
