Once in a while, Mike and I get a day off together during the week. When I heard he was off this last Tuesday I told my boss I was taking off too. But what would we do during the rare day off? The last 45 days have been brutally hot until a week ago when the temps have been in the 90s. We definitely wanted to get outside and breathe some fresh air, but where? How about the zoo? The zoo is usually not on the top of our "things to do list" since we are childless, but we had never been to the Tulsa Zoo and decided to give it our day off. The first thing I did was to find their website www.tulsazoo.org to find out the hours, price and such. I found it to be a well put together website with great informat...Read More

I really like this hotel. I have stayed there on 3 occasions and have never been disappointed. The price for a king room is around $80 to $90 and the hotel is located for easy access to downtown and the major highways. You do have to pay for parking, $5 per day. The outside doesn't look like much but the hotel itself is pleasant. The entry and lobby is sparse in decoration and furniture, with only a few chairs and benches seen. The fresh flowers bring a warm and inviting touch to the surrounding. The check-in service was quick and friendly. There were plenty of staff and everyone worked quickly. We also enjoyed their signature warm, gooey, chocolate chip cookies, just another on the perks o...Read More

This is my favorite museum in Oklahoma. It is an italianate villa sitting on 23 of the most beautiful acres in the center of Tulsa. It was built in the 1920's by oilman Waite Phillips and has grown over the years to this peaceful and harmonic experience that satsifies the soul. There is a large collection of art, including the masters, American Indian, Asian and a few others. I have enjoyed the travelling exhibits thoughtout the years, visiting to view the world of russian royalty and more of the masters such as Monet. A great dining exerience awaits as you enjoy a gormet lunch overlooking the gardens. A friend and I ate there last summer. The summer green salad was to die for....Read More

No trip to Tulsa is complete unless you visit the best family centered, outdoor theater at Discoveryland USA. Oklahoma's state song is of course Roger and Hammerstein's 'Oklahoma' and Tulsa has the best performance known. Every summer, nationally known singers and dancers come for 2 months to perform this wonderful musical. It is a must see for all ages. The evening begins with an old fashioned picnic of BBQ beef sandwiches, slaw and beans. Sit at the tables under the trees or in the dining area. Where ever you sit be sure to watch the children riding the pony or rope the calf. After dinner, visit the reproduction of main street where you can shop for western attire or rock candy at the general...Read More
