A November 2003 trip

Quote: I spent a week doing a PADI Rescue diver course in Hurgahda.
The instruction was excellent and fun, the dives were great, loads to see, my highlight was a turtle almost as big as me feeding on the coral as I floated in awe beside it.
The course entails two mornings of first aid training and final exam, and the afternoons were spent practicing the diving skills in the sea, then I had to practice emergency scenarios, and identify potential troubled/stressed/uncomfortable diver above and underwater and assist as necessary to avoid a full blown emergency/panic situation. The diving was done off shore and boat.
The boats are large and spacious enough as numbers are restricted. They're comfortable, friendly, and stocked with cool drinks and delicious food for a small price. Fresh water tanks are on board so you can rinse photo equipment immediately. Tips are much appreciated by the local boat crew and well deserved as they're so helpful.
I'd recommend the diving here to anyone it was great, but beware of dodgy boat operators. Don't be tempted by a cheap price, it's not worth the risk, this I know as a small boat rowed between the dive boats with a snorkeler trying to identify which boat he belonged to, apparently his boat had left without him!
