My boyfriend and I decided to stay at the "Mirage" hotel & casino for our second trip to Vegas. We both love the islands, so we figured this "island-themed" hotel would be perfect for us.When we arrived at the hotel, we immediately noticed the subtle scent of coconut in the air. They must pump that stuff through the hotel to get you in the "island" mood. (which it did!) Since we were checking in over Labor Day weekend, the hotel was packed, and we waited in line for about 15 minutes. However, the entire wall behind the front desk is an aquarium, so you can watch the dozens of tropical fish swimming around while you wait. Upon checking in, we went to our room to unpack, and then hea...Read More

For those who love the islands, staying at the Mirage hotel/casino will make you feel as though you're on an island in the South Pacific! As you enter the lobby of the hotel, you notice a subtle hint of coconut in the air. Then as you walk by the front desk, you see the giant aquarium full of tropical fish that takes up the entire wall! Then there is an atrium in the front of the hotel that you have to pass through if you want to get to the casino, elevators, etc. It is filled with giant palms, lush vegetation, tropical flowers and waterfalls that lead up to a giant dome/skylight. You feel as though you're in the jungle! The Mirage is home to a variety of restaurants from casual to ...Read More

Tremezzo

Restaurant

Each time we visit Vegas, my boyfriend and I try to have one "dressy" night, where we'll have dinner at an upscale restaurant. This time, we decided on "Tremezzo" located inside the "Aladdin" hotel/casino. Initially, we picked this restaurant because it offered a great view of the strip. When I called to make reservations, I asked for a table on the outdoor patio, but due to construction, we had to eat indoors in the main dining room. Instead, they seated us at a table near the window. From where we were sitting, we could see the Bellagio fountains across the street. This Italian restaurant is finely decorated and features large windows that allow you to look out onto the strip. The food wa...Read More

Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville

Restaurant | "Margaritaville"

Quote:
Jimmy Buffet's "Margaritaville" is one of our favorite restaurants/bars in Vegas! Located across the street from Caesars, this is a place where you can chill out and have a burger, beer, frozen drink, etc., while listening to some good music.

The main restaurant is on the first floor, but it's indoors...I recommend sitting on the outdoor patio on the second floor. It's MUCH better! Most of the time there's a line to sit on the upstairs deck, but it's well worth the wait!

Afterwards, you can go downstairs to the Margaritaville gift shop. It's huge and it makes for good souvenir shopping. Parrothead heaven!

Mirage Hotel and Casino

Attraction | "The Mirage Volcano"

Quote:
The volcano at the Mirage Hotel and Casino is something that should be seen at least once while you're in Vegas. After nightfall, the volcano erupts about every 15-20 minutes. It is spectacular sight that you won't be able to see anywhere else! You can really feel the heat from the flames if you're standing close enough to it. As the volcano spews fiery water into the air, flames creep down into the water, lighting up the entire lagoon! The show lasts only 5-10 minutes, but is definitely a sight to see.

If you're an animal lover, you'll want to see the "White Tiger Habitat" at the Mirage hotel/casino. (It's free to the public.) In the afternoons, the tigers hang out and bask in the sun, as well as go swimming in their little pool area. You can watch all of this from behind a clear plexiglass wall. There is also a video that shows how these animals were raised by Seigfried and Roy from the time they were cubs. Too cute!
