Kauai is a nature lovers paradise on earth! If we had no family on the mainland, we would have gladly stayed there forever.

Overview

So many great things to do! We took a kayak trip and along with a short hike went to a beautiful waterfall where our group swam and relaxed. Although snorkeling on Key Largo is much better, for a first timer, like my husband, this was a great experience as well. One side of the island has very limited access (by boat or hiking). At the end of a hike you are rewarded with an awesome beach and great place to camp for the night (provided you don't require a bathroom)! And a helicopter ride, while expensive, is definitely worth the breath-taking views of countless waterfalls, sugar cane fields, and canyons. Word of advise, one week is not enough time to enjoy this island.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

Car rental is definitely the only way to go here!

While the entertainment was nice, I felt it was too commercialized for my taste. I'll not attend another but definitely a must for first timers. Poi, a staple in Hawaii, was served and is apparently an acquired taste.

The trail is fairly easy, not steep. And the views are beyond description. If you enjoy nature and don't mind a stroll in the woods, definitely worth the effort!Hanakapi'ai Beach is a breath-taking white sand beach with very few people surrounded by lush vegetation and gorgeous blue ocean. As close to paradise as I've ever seen.

Bring ear plugs if you have ears sensitive to noise! But the view is unbeatable! This was the one splurge we had on our honeymoon, and it was worth EVERY penny.
