Sharing our magical trip to WDW in December 2005—a special birthday trip, full of holiday cheer. Tons of reviews on dining, hotels, and attractions, as well as insider tips from a family who visits the "Mouse House" quite frequently.

Partying With Pluto!

Chef Mickey's

Dining at Chef Mickey's for breakfast was the perfect end to our vacation. This fun and festive character buffet meal is our kids favorite, and they request it each time we visit WDW. Standouts on the buffet include Mickey waffles, breakfast pizza, ready-made omelettes, and vegetable lasagna, in addition to all the usual breakfast fare such as pancakes, bacon, sausage, pastries, fruit, and much more.

In addition to a great all-you-care-to-eat buffet, the characters will come around to your table to take pictures and sign autographs. Beware!!! Celebrations break out during the course of your meal, complete with hand clapping and napkin swinging songs!

My son's birthday was made special with a special birthday song that got the whole restaurant involved and was topped off with a cupcake, complete with candle.

If you want a fun and festive way to start your day when at Walt Disney World, then Chef Mickey's is the way to go.

Check out Chef Mickey's.

Insider Tips:

* Book Chef Mickey's in advance because this is a very popular dining location. You are able to book up to 180 days in advance.

* Inform the reservation agent of any special occasions you are celebrating, and remind them again when you check-in at the podium.

* After eating at Chef Mickey's, hop on the monorail to visit the other two hotels on the line, or ride on over to the Magic Kingdom for some theme park fun!

Posing With Pooh

Crystal Palace - Magic Kingdom

The pretty setting of the Crystal Palace is enough reason to eat here, add the character interaction along with a great buffet and in this WDW visitor's opinion it's a no brainer!

This "must do" eatery was on our agenda for lunchtime though the restaurant does serve breakfast and dinner as well. Located in the Magic Kingdom near the hub of mainstreet it's a great way beat the mid-day heat during lunch hours.

The buffet offers a wide variety of choices including, salads, pasta dishes, soups, carved meats (the roast beef was excellent), seafood choices, breads, desserts and an ice cream station complete with soft serve and toppings!

Pooh and friends make the rounds here ready to give hugs, take pictures and sign autographs. The bright and airy setting adds to the charm as well.

Insider Tips:

* This is a popular dining destination so book early. You may be able to book as far as 180 days in advance.

* Breakfast bookings can be made up to one hour before the park opens. Get the earliest booking you can and be inside the park when it opens ... getting a jump start on the crowds.

* Try to book an early lunch or early dinner, avoiding the dining crowds which will leave you to the attractions when everyone else in dining at the typical hour!
