Oahu doesn't bite in the sense of that it's a bad place. It "bites" because of the amazing shark experience I had. Oahu is a wonderful island with many activities and a lot of traffic.

Oahu

Overview

Looking towards Diamondhead
Possibly the coolest thing you'll ever do in your life is swim with the sharks. It is an absolutely amazing experience that is a must do. Other highlights include Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, Waikiki, Duke's Restaurant, Kailua Beach, Lanikai Beach, and the North Shore.

Quick Tips:

No coupons/discounts to be found. Oahu is relatively expensive.

Best Way To Get Around:

Rent a car. All parts of this island are unique and need to be seen. A car is the easiest way to get around but be prepared to get stuck in traffic.

Duke's

Restaurant

My son at Duke
This restaurant is located at the Outrigger Hotel on Waikiki. We have eaten there for both lunch and dinner; I recommend that if you have kids to go there for lunch. The food is great and the views are incredible. It overlooks Waikiki and has an incredible sunset view at dinner. It is not really that expensive at lunch ($60 for 2 adults and a 2-year-old) but can be at dinner, especially if you add that all important Mai Tai or bottle of wine (around $100). I recommend making reservations as it is a very very popular restaurant.

Shark Adventure

Activity

Getting in the cage
This was probably the coolest thing I have ever done in my life. You've seen the shows on TV where crazy people get in cages in the ocean and invite sharks to come towards them. Well, now you can do it yourself! You go about 3 miles off the north shore of the island, they lower a cage in the water, and you get in. They then feed the sharks and they swarm all around you. I counted 25 sharks at one point. The water is as clear as can be so you can see for what seems like forever. You are snorkeling for this adventure but it doesn't take away from the experience. The sharks are so close that you can reach out and touch them, though that is not recommended. This is a must do!
