Hindustani movies; actors and actresses dressed in their colorful outfits; running, dancing, and rolling in the middle of flower meadows. All this with snow capped mountains in the background. It is true that Kashmir is the "Heaven on earth"? Our trip to Kashmir started with a short flight from New Delhi to Srinagar on Sahara Airlines. After being greeted upon arrival by our driver, we took a short drive, and arrived at the shikara station on Dal Lake (shikara is a small boat). The hotel we were staying was a boathouse on in the middle of the Lake. Everything in the boat house is made out of pine wood from the mountains. Taj Mahal was as I always pictured. My dreams come true. I always wanted to see the famous Taj Mahal, and here I was, standing in front, looking at this majestic building. White marble reflected in the pool below, with blue sunny skies as a backdrop. A person has to go there to view it and appreciate its appeal. The monument of love. Shah Jehan was...Read More

Jaipur is in the province of Rajastan, home to the colorful sarees and scarves. Listening to our tour guide, Vaneet, somehow every building used to be a palace… "This building was a palace but now a police station, that is where this king lived, but now is unrestored," Seems the kings were very extravagant during their days. They even had palaces inside the lakes. Seems a pity that not much has been restored. I cant blame the Indian government though. I would prefer the money spent to help the people first, if that’s what they are doing at the moment. Jaipur is home to the Amber Fort where we rode elephants to get to the fort which was on top of the hill. We also visited the Maharaja’s Palace, and...Read More
