Overview

Camel Rock
We were on the Island as part of our Thailand Trip for our honeymoon. We spent 5 nights and days on the island. We stayed in Patong for the whole duration. We wanted to do something active but not too active. We arrived from Koh Samui, so we pretty much did the elephant trekking, canoeing, and snorkeling.

There were so many highlights, however there were two that stood out for us.

Our trip would have been the White water rafting + ATV tour that we went on. It was excellent. The Tour company took us to the mainland—Phang Nga. It was a full day tour starting off with white water rafting along the river. The lunch that was provided was a feast. It was beautifully cooked. Snacks and drinks were also included. The ATV tour itself was fantastic. We were taken through small villages, and through the jungle. There were some really breathtaking views from the hills. It's just something that you have to do.

The other was our day trip out to Phi Phi Island. It was just soo beautiful. We didnt get a chance to stay over as our time in Phuket was limited. Snorkeling gear was provided. We got to the island by speed boat. Once we were there, there was no sign that a tsunami hit the island. It has recovered really well. The water around the island was stunning—aqua all the way round it. There were landmarks that we stopped to view on the tour.

Phuket itself has recovered considerably since the tsunami. The night life is always buzzing and the bars are always filled with people. There are quite a few Lady-Boys out there. They're quite beautiful.

We managed to catch a sunset on one of the nights we were there. Make sure you don't blink as the sun disappears quite quickly, however the sight is really beautiful.

We had no expectations on arriving, and walked away with a great time and experience on the island.

Quick Tips:

In Patong, there is a main strip where there are stalls. It gets quite lively at night. If you purchase anything, as always make sure you haggle and barter your price.

At night, whilst walking along the dining areas, make sure you look at the menus before sitting down to a meal, and don't feel pressured into eating at the place. The wait staff tend to drag you into their premises.

We mainly went on tours, and our tours were arranged by the hotel staff.

Best Way To Get Around:

We stayed at a great location. We didn't need to use transport much, as most of the stuff that we did do was in walking distance. There are plenty of tuk tuk's around if needed and buses as well.
Pool at Resort
We stayed in the Lotus Village. We informed the hotel that we were honeymooners, and when we arrived, our bed was decorated in Rose Petals. It was lovely!

The room itself was quite spacious, it had air-conditioning, and a fan inside the room. The only thing we were concerned with were the mosquitoes around the villa—there were plenty, especially at night. They did provide these burner thingies to keep the mosquitoes away.

We ordered room service on the first night that we were there, and the food was pretty good and tasty. The rooms came with a mini bar, and complimentary water each day.

The TV was standard, and the channels that were provided were quite decent. Cable channels with the normal English speaking shows such as National Geographic and the news channels. There was also some local television.

The breakfast that was included in the cost, was quite good. There were lots of variety from Western to Eastern types of food, catering for all.

The resort had two swimming pools. A deeper pool and a shallower one. There were also free activities that people could join. We found that the pool itself was fabulous. We had a great time lounging in the pool area. It was kept clean and the staff were friendly.

The resort location was very convenient to us. It was close to the main strip (about a 10 minute walk) but far away from the strip to keep the noise out. We were on one end of the main beach road. The good thing was, once you crossed the road, the beach was there. There were many beach chairs (however these needed to be hired).

Overall, i would definitely stay here again. For the value that you pay for the room and the location, it was great.
