Location, location, location!!! I was pleasantly surprised when I actually arrived and realized where exactly we (my husband and I) would be staying. Kashe suite is located in the very center of Dubrovnik, in the Old Town harbour.
I thought, as we decided to stay with in Old Town, that we would have to carry our bags up those narrow streets full of steep uneven steps, but the taxi dropped us off at the Ploce Gate and there were no steps on the way to Kashe suite. That was great as my luggage was soooo heavy.
When we reached the Old Port there was only one building in which there is Port Authority, restaurant Poklisar which I highly recommend (try their seafood risotto) and Vacation Suite Kashe. Just outside the suite there are boats going on three island tours, island of Lokrum, Elafiti islands, Cavtat...I felt so good knowing I would not have to use a car or bus during our vacation.
Darko, the owner of Kashe suite, was waiting for us in front of the restaurant and he showed us our way into the suite. He was very kind and helpful from our first contact through his website www.dubrovnikconcierge.com, where we booked his suite. He is a handsome young man and we certainly enjoyed his company. Darko helped us with his advice and showed us around the Old Town, organized our transfer to the airport, organized a sea-kayaking tour for us, and reserved a table in a great restaurant, Nautika, located on Ploce gate. On his website there are other apartments owned by his friends but suite Kashe is something special.
After my first look at the suite, I was in love with it. The suite was remodeled last summer and it is tastefully decorated. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, spacious living room with kitchenette. It is a loft-type apartment and it has that special feeling once you arrive you just feel great. The rooms had a nice, romantic atmosphere, and they were completely renovated with a comfortable bed and clean bathroom.
We also had a chance to meet Darko's mother Lucia. She is such an amazing women. She is also a famous Croatian artist. She makes unique pottery with no instruments, only her hands, and she paints them with gold and platinum. We bought a beautiful vase for my mother for €200 and she gave us two little white doves she made and told us they are symbol of love. We keep them in our living room, they remind us of our great time in Dubrovnik.
I would highly recommend this accommodation to everyone coming to Dubrovnik wishing to experience the real Croatian lifestyle and meet nice and helpful local family.
