Upper Michigan (lower peninsula) provides an excellent location for a quiet and peaceful getaway, and Boyne provides a perfect location for it all year around. Boyne is known for its Michigan skiing, but it also delivers in the summer as well.

With multiple restaurants on the resort and many more in nearby cities, cross-country and downhill bike trails, an indoor water park, two golf courses, and direct access to Deer Lake, Boyne Mountain makes for an excellent choice for a summer getaway.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

While on the resort, the best way to get around is either walking or riding a bike. However, accessing the Deer Lake Beach will require driving because there is a very large hill that must be climbed going there and coming back.

If you want to access some of the nearby towns such as Petosky, you'll need a car.
Best Things Nearby:
Deer Lake, Avalanche Run indoor water park, bike trails down the mountain (ski lift gets you to top), city of Charlevoix, city of Petosky, city of Harbor Springs

Best Things About the Resort:
1) The Rooms were up to date and clean.
2) The staff was very helpful and quick to handle any issues we had.
3) Scenery is beautiful and peaceful.
4) Discounts on golf (two 18-hole courses on the grounds) and the Avalanche Run water park.
5) Deer Lake is great although the beach area is small.
6) Short distance (20 Miles or less) to popular towns (Petosky, Charlevoix).
7) The pool has a walk-in slope that allows babies and toddlers to sit and play without having to be held.

Resort Experience:
The Mountain Run timeshares are modern looking with nice colors on the walls, very well kept, and have adequate space (two-bedroom units) to sleep two couples. The surrounding area is kept clean and trim as well.

Access to the main resort area is about a 1/4 mile and is easily accessible via walking or biking on a paved, low volume street or an easy cross-country bike trail. The main resort is where the restaurants and the indoor water park are located.

Dear Lake beach on the Boyne Mountain grounds is a bit small but is intelligently laid out with a concrete section with patio chairs just behind the beach area for people to lay out and relax without having to get all sandy. Additionally, the golf course's restaurant is only 50 yards away.

Besides just splashing around in the water, there should be plenty of fun for both the adults and kids alike; paddle boats, jet skis and canoes are available for rent.
