Along with 3 friends, I decided to take a short retreat from work and went to the Doral Spa and Resort in Miami. They have a package deal called the "Doral Your Way" package. This deal is pretty good. The cost is $149 per night but includes the room, buffet breakfast, and one spa treatment. So, if you plan on going for a spa retreat as we did, I would suggest this package. As for the accommodations, they were quite lovely. Our adjoining rooms were in Lodge 4, which is just down the hill from the main lobby. The bellman was nice enough to bring our bags to the room and tell us where everything was located that the resort. The room itself is in nice cream tones. Our room had 2 queen beds that had mo...Read More

Champions at the Doral

Champions is one of the four restaurants that are located at the Doral Spa and Resort. We had a chance to dine at Champions on two occasions. The first time was for drinks and a snack after our arrival. They have the standard drinks and a few specialty drinks. I had the "Pink Cuban" (if I recall correctly). It was basically a martini/mojito. It was very smooth. We also had their humus/pita chips starter. Both were very good. Our second chance of dining was for lunch a day later. I had a chicken panini with roasted red peppers and french fries. That was delicious. If you are staying at the resort, this is a great place to grab a snack or a light lunch. They also do dinner but we did not get a chan...Read More

The Terrazza is a restaurant that is located just across from the Champions restaurant. If you are taking part in a spa package, this is where you will go for your breakfast buffet. This is one of the rare buffets, in my opinion, that has a little bit of everything. They have everything from fresh fruits, oatmeal, eggs, sausage, and bagels. They also have a chef there that will make an omelet to order. If you aren't looking for a large breakfast, this cafe is also a good place. Right in front of the main restaurant, there is a Starbucks cafe. Along with great coffee, they have fruit cups, muffins, cookies, and sandwiches at lunch time. In the Starbucks area, there's a small sitting area where you ...Read More

Atrium Restaurant at the Spa

The Atrium is an interesting restaurant to me. It is located inside the spa at Doral, so it's right in the mix of all the spa services. It's located right behind the lovely staircases that lead you to the main spa area. The restaurant has a beautiful piano centrally located in the restaurant. And overall, the place is very light and open aired, even though it's inside. Everything on the menu is noted as to how healthy it is. The prices are high, as are all the prices at all the resort restaurants, so be aware. However, I had the chicken cesear salad here and it was great. Our server, Robert, was engaging and very nice. The only odd thing to me was seeing people in their spa robes eating in the re...Read More

Tia Lola Restaurant

Our group discovered Tia Lola while driving to one of the local malls. Tia Lola is located inside a strip mall that is just off of the main road. It caught our eye as we were looking for a possible Cuban restaurant to try. We were glad we stopped here. The cafe itself is an averaged size place but it was busy while we were there. We started off with some homemade Sangria which was great. At the bottom of every one's glasses, there was fresh fruit and the waitress poured the red wine on top of the fruit. They then brought out a fresh batch of bread which was delicious. Everyone ordered something different. I had an appetizer platter. It consisted of ham, cheese, tamale, turkey, and two fried rolls ...Read More

Quinn's

Restaurant

Quote:
Quinn's is quintessential South Beach. It is located in a very beautiful Art Deco building that looks like it came out of one of the movies of the past. It's dimly lit to give it a romantic/mysterious feel. Each table has one or more candles to help with the mood. In our area, we were surrounded by mirrors which also helped reflect the light. Quinn's, in my opinion, classifies as "fine dinning" at its best. The prices are high and the service is iffy at best. The service definitely could have been better but I tend to blame it on a rainy evening and what looked to be a conference that was going on. The only difference that I noticed from other "fine dinning" experiences, the meals came in...Read More

I actually did not play a full course of golf while at the Doral Resort. I am a true beginner when it comes to golf. And because of this, I decided to take the golf clinic at the Jim McLean Golf School. It is a great opportunity to learn from a great instructor. Our instructor was Patricia Gonzalez who was very kind and patient to us beginners. The clinic is much less expensive than a one-on-one lesson. It's $20 per person per hour. Which is a GREAT price!!! There are two clinics during the week. The first one is on Tuesday at 10am and the second is on Wednesday at 9am. On Tuesday, there were only 3 people in the clinic and Wednesday there were only 2 people. So, it really felt like a one-on-one l...Read More

While staying at the Doral Spa & Resort, I took part of the Doral Your Way Package. If you would like to check out what services are included, just check out the Doral's main website. As for the services I took part of, all of them were awesome. Here is some brief information on the services I took part in: #1) Rose Milk Bath: This is basically your personal Jacuzzi bath. The water is like bath water and the attendant adds oils to the water to soothe the skin. It was 25 minutes of relaxation. #2) Total Body Fango: This is a different experience, for me that is. It starts off with the attendant putting a cleansing mud all over your body. After that is complete, you are w...Read More
