Best Things Nearby:The beach, the surf, and it's pretty close to a Mega store.Best Things About the Resort:The pool was where the party was at, and it had a great restaurant on-site.Resort Experience:The resort has all the balconies facing the ocean at least in phase 1 & 3 buildings. It's right on the beach and it's not that far to the water. There is a small market and a spa on the grounds. There is also a couple of restaurants right outside of the gates so essentially you could stay the whole time at the resort. They have an activity and car rental persons to arrange for any tours in the lobby if you wanted to get out and explore. We stayed in a one...Read More

Story/Tip

There is a lot to do in CSL, with a huge shopping mall and streets lined with shops, but it's a huge tourist trap. People were coming up to us constantly, asking if we wanted to buy necklaces, bracelets, etc., even when we ate at a small corner restaurant. I'd recommend San Jose Del Cabo shopping over CSL, as it seemed nicer there.

Medano Beach is big draw, with a safe swimming beach and all kinds of water sports.

Nothing is cheap. You may be in Mexico, but they know you have money, so be prepared. Every little thing someone wants a tip for. We heard the nightlife was fun, but if you're not there for that, I don't know that I'd recommend CSL.

Chelleno Beach was nice, and there were lots of fish, but you may want to get there early, as the snorkeling tour boats pull up around 11am or so and then the water is just too crowded. The water was sort of rough but not unbearable. We heard that it calmed down later in the afternoon. The sand is a nice granule and easy to walk on. The parking area was big, and they had a security guard there.

Rancho Tours

They offered quite a few tour options. We did the La Paz tour, parts of which were good. It's an all day 10 hour tour. I wouldn't do it again just because I didn't think La Paz had much to offer. It's a commercial city, as it's the capital of Baja, and it just wasn't a place we wanted to check out again, although the restaurant we stopped at where lunch was included was amazing. The tour itself was nice with a big air-conditioned van/bus. The driver was informative and funny. We stopped at a few places before and after that I would explore again. All in all, the tour company is recommended, but not necessarily that tour.

We had such a good time. This was not the standard booze cruise as they had a tasty dinner of flank steak, rice, veggies, and tortillas. It was all-you-can drink alcohol also. We went on the smaller of the two boats but the staff were great and really encouraged fun. The group of people on our boat all got up after dinner and we danced the rest of the night away.

Todos Santos

I like Todos Santos over Cabo or San Jose Del Cabo, as it was not as touristy. There probably wouldn't be much nightlife, so if you are looking for that, TS probably would not be the place to stay. It's an artist community with lots of galleries. There were some knickknack-type shops, but not as much as you'd find in either CSL or SJDC. I loved the unique galleries and craftsmanship that was available. Hotel California is in TS, and what the current owners have done with it is beautiful. There were lots of taco stands and a lot choices for restaurants also. I'd recommend Miguel's. The town was pretty, with colorful buildings, and it had an easy, calm feel.
