Smoky Mountain Weekend

A May 2006 trip to Sevierville by Zag

Best Western Greenbrier Motel

The property gives an overall impression of being a 1960s style lodging facility. The building is situated within 20 feet of the 4-lane parkway, which makes for continual loud vehicle noise. This made sleeping difficult in rooms with paper-thin doors and walls. The parking lot is very small, and vehicles park within a few feet of the rooms, which adds to an already noisy location. Rooms show age and much wear and tear. Our room had a musty mildew odor, which seemed to come from the air-conditioning unit and the bathroom. Our friends reported the same problem in their room. The bed was lumpy and very uncomfortable. Despite having a Do Not Disturb sign on our door, housekeeping banged loudly on our door at 6:45am. When we went to eat breakfast, a large tour bus group had already eaten most of the food and continued to sit at the tables after they were finished eating. Upon checking out, I requested to speak with the owner-manager, and the desk clerk became very rude, telling us we should have stayed somewhere else. The owner-manager was very defensive, and in so many words let us know she was not concerned with our experiences at her facility. I do not recommend this facility. With so many other lodging choices in town, do not stay here.
