A December 2005 trip to Barcelona by Brooklynite22
Quote: My best friend and I went to Barcelona on a lark, this beautiful and vibrant city did not disappoint.
Overview
In our rambling walking tours to and from our planned destinations, there were great little stores, restaurants, and scenes in this great city.
We booked a last minute flight from London on EasyJet and took a bus from the airport to the beginning of Las Ramblas. We got off the bus sat in a park for a bit, getting our bearings and enjoying the blue skies and warmer weather (we had just come from London). We consulted our guide book/map and began our quest for lodging, winding up at the Center Ramblas, based on a guide book recommendation. We wandered through the Boquiera market (with huge backpacks still on). It was great. On departure we (mistakenly) walked to the bus station to purchase bus tickets to Paris. Read on for a description of what wound up being a 16 hour overnight bus ride from Barcelona to Paris.
Hotel
The cost for the one, very clean room we shared was comparable to the price of two beds in the disappointing Center Ramblas. If you really need a bed I guess it is okay, but look elsewhere first—this place was pretty bad and the staff just didn't care. If you want to book a room, or look for an alternative search http://www.hostelworld.com

La Boqueria La Rambla, 91 Barcelona, Spain
Attraction
There were great interactive exhibits and vibrant modern works inside. The museum seemed to focus on lesser known artists, and seemed to take more risks than other modern art museums in the works it chose to showcase. Beyond being thought provoking, the exhibits were fun and playful and encouraged active participation. The museum also seemed to attract more locals and artsy types than many other museums with their steady flow of tourists. Go with an open mind and an appreciation for off-beat art.
I would definitely recommend this museum for its architecture and exhibits, especially if you appreciate modern art. However if you are looking for the most famous artists or more conventional museum the Museu Picasso might be more your speed.
